Essential #1: Polar Fleece
Scenic Route Polar Fleece // BILLABONG $69.95
The first winter wardrobe essential for 2020 is this boxy layering option. This polar fleece is a casual, cool piece you can wear to stay warm.
Yes, I did say boxy, which means if you want to try this item, you need to find out how to best wear this trend.
If you are comfortable with boxier pieces, you can wear this with a high-waist boyfriend jean and A slouchy tee, but if you are looking to make this fleece a bit more tailored, wear it with a fitted top and skinny jeans.
Essential #2: Sweater Dress
Carter Sweater Dress // GENTLE FAWN $110
A sweater dress is a must-have for your winter wardrobe.
Dresses are such an easy way to feel put together instantly, especially a sweater dress. It takes the guesswork out of creating an outfit.
What I really love about this dress is how it’s like a blank canvas that you can change up the look. Here are some styling tips for a sweater dress:
- Add a long necklace
- Add a fuzzy vest
- Wear it as a tunic with leggings
- Cinch in the waist with a wide belt
- Add a tall pair of boots
There are so many ways to add this to your winter wardrobe.
Essential #3: High-Waist Boyfriend Jeans
Stella Denim Pant // MUSE SOCIETY $69.50
Time to add a new pant style to your skinny jean collection for your winter wardrobe!
These jeans have less stretch to them. They are still comfortable because they’re boyfriend cut with a high-waist fit.
Because of the neutral color, they are a great option to add to your winter wardrobe and can pair easily with sneakers, a fitted bootie, and your favorite sweater.
You can add a french tuck (a partial tuck in front and keep the back out) to make boxy tops or sweaters fit properly.
Essential #4: Ruched-Sleeve Tee
Love Struck Tee // PROJECT SOCIAL $48
If you’ve been looking for tops that are business casual, yet not a blouse, this is the perfect piece for your winter wardrobe.
It has ruching on the sleeves and a more fitted style that is flattering to wear with a flowy skirt or tucked into high waist jeans.
Blouses are great, but sometimes all the extra fabric makes it difficult to wear. This top is the perfect solution because it’s simple, yet stylish.
Essential #5: Printed Joggers
Lovin’ Leopard Pant // PROJECT SOCIAL $78
I had to add a pair of joggers to the winter wardrobe essentials mix, because I’m receiving tons of requests for elastic waist pants lately for that WFH style.
I chose these leopard print joggers to add a fun print to your loungewear mix. You can wear this with all your colorful tees: pink, purple, navy, black, etc.
These are higher waisted but can be pulled down a bit, if that’s what you like. I didn’t share the matching sweatshirt, but if you want a matching set, totally pick that one up too.
Essential #6: A Velvet Dress
Finally for the list of winter wardrobe essentials is an easy-to-wear velvet dress.
This dress is so soft, you are going to want to hug yourself. The fabric is also stretchy so it’s comfortable to wear and the looser top can be left unbuttoned with a lace cami underneath.
It fits well for both a smaller and larger bust. For a smaller bust, the volume from the draping fabric on top is very flattering, but a larger bust fits in well because of the stretch fabric and extra material.
I hope you enjoyed these winter wardrobe essentials! Remember: if you want to get any of these items or more, you can get free shipping through American Alchemy by using the coupon code CLOSETEDIT.
