There’s a lot of information out there to help you achieve your goals in life. With the internet, everything you want is right at your fingertips—and usually for free!
Want to learn how to dance in a week? Create more joy in your life with 5 easy changes? Meditate and have more peace?
It’s all achievable and closer than you think. The free resources you find online aren’t just quick fixes; they can help you achieve your goals.
Here’s an easy 6-step process to help you sift through all of the overwhelming amounts of information you find online and make a change. Use the tools you find online from coaches, educators, and podcasts to actually create the results you want in your life.
Step 1: Pick Your Goal
What do you need help with right now? What do you want to learn to do on your own?
It can be anything from business-related help to relationship help. What’s been on your mind or heart lately? Choose the topic that interests you most.
Step 2: Do Your Research
Take time to find out who’s teaching and sharing information on the topic you chose. A Google search might be your first stop, but there are more ways to explore online. If you are a visual or auditory learner, try these:
Search on YouTube for videos
Look on Instagram for content
Find a related podcast on Stitcher or iTunes
You’ll be surprised by all the great resources available for free. Online educators are sharing information in many formats to make it accessible and easier for you to take in the content and start learning.
Step 3: Choose Two Thought Leaders
After you searched, what two people, brands, or companies had truly helpful content?
Subscribe to their channel on YouTube, follow their social media accounts, and sign up for their newsletter. I know it’s a lot of things, but if you really want help in any area of your life, you’ve got to put your focus there.
You won’t see their every post or open their every newsletter, but when something eye-catching pops up, you’ll be able to click through to learn more about what you really need.
Step 4: Digest Their Content
When you find an article or piece of content that you feel can change the needle in your personal or business life, digest it. When you find these items and they line up with what you want to achieve, you need to actually take the time to put it into action.
If it was a podcast you listened to that had great tips and information, sit down, listen to it again, and take notes.
If you saw an inspiring YouTube video, watch it again and take notes.
Re-read a blog article and save it to your notes, and highlight the phrases that jump out at you.
No matter what format the content is in, you need to take the steps and click through the links they share in their show notes and descriptions to find more information about the topics they’re talking about.
Step 5: Purchase Their Offer
Free content will only get you so far.
After you’ve made the time investment of digesting all of the expert’s free content, sign up to work with them, or take a workshop they offer. If you’re loving the information and really want results, hire them!
There are so many benefits to taking the next step:
You’ll get the accountability you need.
You’ll fully commit to the work.
You’ll get to go in-depth into the topic.
You’ll take the necessary steps to see quicker results than if you do it on your own.
Step 6: Share Your Experience
Finally—share about your experience and what you’ve learned. It’s the next best step to take.
It’s important to have people around you that have similar interests, passions, or personal goals. By opening up your conversations and sharing your new experiences, you’ll get closer to people already in your life, and you’ll also attract new people who are interested in similar topics.
Personally, I have 3 circles of friends with open group chats where we share podcasts, articles, workshops, and more that we find helpful. Instead of sharing gossip and news, we share information to help each other grow.
Now it’s your turn to go out and explore the possibilities! Go after what’s on your heart and find the people that will help you achieve your personal goals and business goals.
