Finding the right shoe can be a daunting task. With all the options out there, it’s important to keep in mind what’s truly important to you. The truth is…there is NO perfect shoe that works for everyone. You have to keep your needs, lifestyle, and comfort level in mind to find the perfect sandal that works for you.

Step #1: Create a Sandal Checklist

As I was doing my own shoe shopping, I was reminded by how easy it can be to get caught up in buying items that don’t fit well or keeping something you weren’t actually looking for. When you get all the cool shoes in that you order online it’s important to keep in mind just what you are looking for. Below is a checklist I made for myself as I was shopping.

My summer sandal checklist:

• Under $100
• White
• Can be worn with a skirt, dress, or pants
• Easy to walk in for long periods of time
• Have some height short wedge or platform style

What are the top 3-5 things you are looking for? This will be helpful for you as you are making decisions on what to keep from your order.

Step #2: Use Filters to Shop Online

Use these filters as you shop for shoes online:

• Price point
• Shoe size
• Color
• Heel Height

It will take away all the other items you don’t need to see. Some online stores might not have all these filters so use what’s available to you.

To find the right shoe online, you have do quite a bit of ordering because there’s nothing like trying on the shoe and seeing it in person. Don’t fall for buying the same kind of shoe styles you always buy, add to your cart something new to change up your style.

For this round of shopping I ordered 4 sandals from DSW that fit the checklist of what I’m looking for. I was pretty convinced that the pair with the chunky heel would be my favorite but it ended up being a pair by Vince Camuto that was the most playful and fun option of them all.

Step #3: Put Together Outfits

Take time to put together 3 outfits with the shoe you decide to keep, especially if it’s a new style that you haven’t tried before. You want to make sure you can integrate into your current wardrobe.

When I went to my own closet with the sandals, I was literally able to put them with everything I had. That’s what made me love them even more.
